New SEO Client: Venafi - Certificate Management

Like MarketStar, Venafi is another client whose products and services aren't easy to describe and which are only relevant to a niche audience. For example, if I told you Venafi is a systems management vendor focused on encryption technologies, automating discovery, deployment, application configuration and certificate and key management throughout the enterprise, you'd likely go into cerebral arrest, unless you're the type of person who deals with this stuff on a day to day basis.
So let me put it into simpler terms. If you're a normal person who doesn't already know what those terms above mean, then you're probably not a potential customer for Venafi. However, if you work in the IT department of a Fortune 500 company and information security is a key concern for you, then you probably would be more than mildly interested in what Venafi has to offer.
As far as our involvement, MWI will be providing SEO consulting services to Venafi over the next few months and perhaps longer to help them reach their target audience--information technology professionals for whom security is a high priority. We've just finished the keyword strategy portion of our engagement and are about to begin working on link building and some of the core issues with their site in order to grab some of that low hanging fruit. Currently their site isn't ranking for any of the keywords we identified, so we've got our work cut out for us, as do they, since this is a consulting rather than full-service SEO engagement.
